ABOUT THE SERIES

Earlier this year, I met someone with Alzheimer’s.
He had lost his memory, and with it, his ability to paint.

But he had written his whole life.
About the people he met. The places he visited. What moved him.
Those pages are what he has now. They help him remember who he was.

Before we parted, he said: “Document everything.”
So I did... in my own way.

This series began with that conversation.
Each painting is inspired by something I’ve learned along the way.
Things I want to keep hold of, share with my children.
And things I want to offer to the world, to anyone who might need them.

Stay Curious - Diary Entry

Remember those nights as a child when you lay awake dreaming about everything you might one day do? When you asked endless why’s, blew dandelion seeds and chased butterflies?

Back then, instead of saying ‘that’s not possible’, you asked ‘what if’.

Hold on to that side of you, the part that still looks at the world with wonder, the part that believes in possibilities.

Keep reaching for whatever keeps calling you, the way a sunflower reaches for the sun.

Growing up might seem like learning to stop asking questions. But the truth is, real growing is when you never stop.

Stay curious.

Unseen Work - Diary Entry

Sometimes you wonder if it’s worth it. The sleepless nights, the long hours, the laughter and ease you’ve missed while chasing this dream.

And though it doesn’t always feel like progress, every small step compounds. It’s in the moments you chose to keep believing. In getting back up after being knocked down. In the shadows you faced and grew through.

And it’s in the hive around you - the people who believe in you when you falter, who remind you why you started.

Each drop of effort feels small, but together they build what you can’t yet see. Bees turn it into honey. You turn it into the life you once only imagined.

Keep going. Trust the unseen work.

Within - Diary Entry

I came across this quote by Rumi:

“Do not feel lonely. The entire universe is within you.”

It made me realise we’re never truly alone, even when it feels that way.

All those times you looked for approval, meaning or belonging, they were already inside you.

You carry everything that makes life meaningful: love, creativity, strength, wonder, wisdom.

All you need to do is look within.

Solitude - Diary Entry

Remember those times when being alone felt like the worst thing?

When you worried you’d miss out if you didn’t go along, or feared the silence of your own company?

But solitude isn’t the same as loneliness. It’s where you finally get to meet yourself fully. Where the thoughts you’ve been pushing aside start to surface. Where the best ideas take shape.

It’s in learning to be with yourself that you realise you’re never truly alone - because you have you.

Find solitude.

Formed - Diary Entry

I heard this phrase today: no grit, no pearl.

A pearl begins with grit - a grain of sand caught where it doesn’t belong, an irritation slowly formed into something precious.

And grit is also perseverance. The strength that only shows itself when something presses against you, when difficulty forces you to grow.

There is no one without the other.

No grit, no pearl.

Formed.
