The Nineteen is inspired by the endless beauty and mystery of our Earth. The patterns carved into rock, the movement of water, changing skies and colours that sometimes seem almost too extraordinary to be real.

The landscapes are partly observed and partly imagined. Fragments of the natural world are reshaped into places that feel familiar, but can't quite be found.

Woven into the collection is the idea of umwelt: that every living creature experiences only a partial version of reality, limited by what it is able to perceive.

I find something incredibly hopeful in that. What we can see right now is not necessarily all there is.

There will always be more to discover, more to understand and possibilities we cannot yet imagine.

That is why light runs through every painting, often somewhere on the horizon. For me, it represents that possibility: something not fully visible yet, but still there.
